Well it’s Thanksgiving week, time to look around you and be thankful for what you have. I suppose this year a lot of folks don’t have a whole lot to be thankful for. Those who don’t have a job, lost their home or otherwise are in the grip of these hard times are not going to be in the mood for it.

But my favorite saying is, “everything is relative”. Those who think they have it bad and feel down don’t understand that many, many others would love to trade places with you. Everyone always thinks the other guy has it better and your the one missing out.

Trust me, that’s not true. Many would be happy to get a cold bowl of rice on Thanksgiving day, then go back to their tarp hut. So quit whining! Here in the USA many families will be having a traditional Thanksgiving, with a family get together, football on the big screen and lots of beer!

I even made a special Thanksgiving leather jacket, complete with a cool turkey on the back! It should sell fantastic, I’m sure you want one, right? No? You don’t want a special turkey leather jacket for Thanksgiving? Well ok, maybe I’ll re-think it then. Anyway I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and remember, everything is relative, so be thankful for what you DO have.

Well everyone, like it or not the Holidays are upon us! I don’t think many are feeling all that great about gift giving this year, what with all the money problems most are having. But for those who are doing okay, I’ve decided to have a sale on my most popular ladies leather jacket.

Well everyone, we are now in the Holiday season, or almost there. Along with the Holidays comes lots of bright, shiny new products the stores want you to buy. One of the top items you see at the Holidays is lots of fake, or faux leather jackets. Faux is French for fake, and most leather jackets not made of real leather are called faux leather jackets.

So if your wife or girlfriend, or your man if your a gal, is looking forward to a new genuine leather jacket, the last thing you want to do is get a faux leather jacket. Unless she or he does not mind cheap stuff! So with so many out there during the Holidays, how do you tell them apart from real leather jackets?

Well, any and all fake and faux leather jackets are suppose to SAY they are. Normally it says on the tag, or on a tab attached to the jacket that it’s a faux leather jacket, or just faux leather. However they can get sneaky and creative. Some will call it a leather-like jacket. Or maybe leatherette, synthetic leather, man made leather, even designer leather!

They all mean one thing; it’s a fake or faux leather jacket! A faux leather jacket often has a shine to it unlike real leather. It’s often also thinner than real leather, which is why faux leather jackets are so damn cold! Also many faux leather jackets are very smooth, without the leather grain pattern.

However many faux leather items are stamped with a machine that puts a fake leather grain pattern into the material. A real leather jacket should say somewhere on it that it’s made with genuine leather, or that it’s a genuine leather jacket. If it’s quality it should even say what type of hide the leather is, like cowhide or sheepskin.

If your shopping in a good quality leather store you don’t have to worry. They will not carry any faux leather jackets. But even high end department stores like Macy’s carry faux leather jackets, so be warned. Look for a tag that says if it’s a faux leather or genuine leather jacket. If your not sure, keep looking. Girls don’t like real genuine plastic faux leather jackets!!

Well this is a late post for Halloween, but it’s still before most go trick or treating today so it’s close enough! I’m still up visiting my mom in Vermont so I’m not doing much. It’s cold and windy out with a good chance of rain. If I was going out I’d dress up as a bad-ass biker. Or maybe leather face!

Or I could wear a cheap patchwork leather jacket and go as that guy in “Silence of the lambs”. (you know, he was making a skin form for himself,,patchwork,,, yeah,,,). But since I’m not going anywhere I get to stay in and write this riveting post!

Hartmann Luxe – Moulin Rouge 22″ Mobile Traveler

Hi everyone! I’m up in my home state of Vermont for a short working vacation and seeing the fall foliage season. It’s a bit late up here, most of the leaves are off the trees in the mountains. But I did take some pictures that look okay. The one bright day out I had a smudge on my lens, so those are hazy.

Then the next day was overcast, so the pictures came out dull and cold looking. But I made a page of my best pictures you can see here in my Vermont fall pictures page. So you can take a peek at them and let me know what you think. I’ve got to brush up on my photograph skills!

Going for a motorcycle ride in the fall in Vermont is fantastic and a great way to see the best fall foliage. With a good leather jacket to keep you warm and leather gloves it’s not too cold, except maybe for the night. However it’s a bit late in the season now, and I sure am not going riding out there on a bike! Anyway enjoy the Vermont fall foliage pictures.

Well today I have a post that has nothing to do with leather. Instead I’d like to share a true story that happened to me over last weekend. I have some friends that went away to Tampa for four days. They have two big dogs and a cat, so I helped them out by house sitting for them.

Thursday night went fine. Then Friday night came. Now, for those who don’t know, I’m a bit hard of hearing. So when I’m asleep I don’t hear much. I was sleeping in a back spare room of the house. Around 2:30 AM the dogs woke me up by jumping on the bed and barking.

So I got up and went to the living room. They were both growling at the back door. The house has a fenced in back yard with a screened in back patio. There is a double door that opens to the back patio from the house. It’s that type of door where one is shut all the time by a sliding latch at the bottom and top of it.

Well the 2009 annual Biketoberfest at Daytona Beach is under way for 2009! I already made a post about it which you can red here for more information: 2009 biketoberfest. The weather is fantastic for it this year, if maybe a bit too hot. It should be a little cloudy this weekend but that will keep it cooler.

I thought I’d share some pictures that were just taken from it. These are NOT my pictures, they are from an article from the local newspaper with lots more pictures to see from The Orlando Sentinel here. As you can see, the ones I like the most are the hot babes and custom bikes!

You always see some crazy custom bikes, as well as very beautiful ones with fantastic paint jobs.  I really like the one shaped as a burger! So anyway enjoy the pictures and click that link above for lots more of them. I’ll try to get out there and take my own soon!

I’ve always been dragging it when it comes to my leather store in this site. You would think I would want to make it nice and big so I could sell more leather products and make more money! Well I do, but it takes a long time to do all that coding and stuff to make those pages. Plus I only want to carry top quality leather items.

Now that fall is here and the weather is cooler, you might be thinking about buying your wife or girlfriend a nice leather coat or jacket. Or your a woman and wants to get one for herself. But you might be confused with all the different styles and colors there are out there. So here’s a few tips for you to get a quality women’s leather jacket or coat.

Many think that a leather jacket will not keep you very warm. That’s because of so many fake leather and junk leather coats out there today. I had a girl here in Florida that got a great looking leather jacket from a well known brand. But even here in Florida in the winter she would freeze with that on! A quality, real leather coat or jacket with a liner is very, very warm.

So first make sure it’s REAL leather. Most coats and jackets today are fake leather, leather-like, synthetic leather (which is fake leather) and so on. A real leather jacket will have a tag on it stating it’s made from real leather. A QUALITY leather jacket or coat will say what kind of leather it is, and maybe even the thickness.

I’ve talked about patchwork leather jackets and items before. But some still ask me why it’s bad, or am I sure that it’s not that great? Patchwork leather can also be called bonded leather, although it is put together a bit differently. Rock design, Italian brick work and a few other fancy names are used for it too.

When leather is cut to make a leather jacket, purse or any other leather item, small pieces of left-over leather are made. At some point someone decided that instead of throwing it away they would try to put it together and make a big sheet of it so they can use it for more leather products.

The way they smash it together is done in two ways. In one, the leather pieces are sewn together, with some glue also used. Then they usually coat it with crap to give it an even, smooth feel and try to waterproof all those needle holes. The other way is called bonded leather.

Since I live in Orlando, Fl. I thought I’d mention the upcoming Daytona Beach and Orlando Biketoberfest for 2009. Actually the whole state seems to celebrate it now as a way to make some money off it! But most people associate it with Daytona Beach because of bike week. They have lots going on this year at Biketoberfest, and Orlando always sees some of the action as it’s only 60 miles away.

The 2009 Biketoberfest runs from October 15th to the 18th. The weather at that time should be perfect, if not a little hot for some up north. Temperatures should be around the 80’s at high noon and nights around the high 60’s to low 70’s. Perfect for me! The afternoon rains should be stopped by then, with maybe a few showers every other day or so but only for an hour or so.

There seems to be a lot planned for this year, at least that’s what I read in the official Biketoberfest website, click the link to check it out. All the normal shops and bars along main st. will be open of course, with all the biker booths that spring up overnight for events.

All the Harley motorcycle shops will have extra things going on; there’s a huge one in Orlando if you stay here. With hotels seeing a drop in occupancies this year you should have no trouble getting a room. Some stay in Orlando, others in Daytona Beach and the surrounding areas.
