I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I roasted a full chicken and really pigged out, lol. Many people will get a leather jacket or coat for Christmas. Many boyfriends and husbands will get their girlfriends or wife a nice winter leather coat or jacket. Many times this is the first leather coat they ever had. So, they are not sure what to do with it.
Should they clean it? Does it need waterproofing stuff on it? Does it need sealer? Well let me tell you the basics of what to do if you get a new leather coat for Christmas, or anytime as a gift. First, you want to inspect it and be sure nothing is wrong with it so you can return it if you have to. Take a look all over the outside of the leather coat.
See if there are any rips, holes, burns, flaking or even discoloring on the leather. Next inspect all the outside stitching on the leather jacket. Is there any threads cut, pulled out, nicked or worn? Now inspect any zippers on all the pockets, vents and so on. Zip them open and closed several times. New zippers may be a little stiff. (more…)

I hope everyone is having a good holiday season. But the truth is, many don’t look forward to the whole Christmas season. It’s not because of the actual reason for Christmas, it’s because of all the other stuff that gets shoved in your face during this time of year. Many travel to family for the Hoidays, and for some that’s reason enough to get the blues!
For those in big family’s, you get the whole “so are we going to your parents house or mine Christmas day” fight. Then when you get there you have to pretend you really look forward to cousin Larry and his darling 4 kids, or try to remember all the distant relatives who say hi and you don’t have a clue who they are.
This year is even more trying for most, as the economy crunch has really cut into people’s lives. Many who thought they were going to be celebrating Christmas in their new home are now crammed in a tiny apt. and looking for work. Never mind who’s at fault, the point is it can really get you down. Everyone wants to give their kids what they want for Christmas. (more…)

With the holidays here, many people are thinking about buying their husband, wive, son or friend a leather jacket. The question is, is buying them a leather jacket a good idea? Why not you may ask. Well in a lot of cases it is a good idea and I’m sure they will be very happy with it. However for a lot of people, a leather jacket is a personal thing.
What I mean is, for the real biker who is looking to get a new leather motorcycle jacket, he has an idea of what he wants. Maybe he wants air vents on the back, or maybe on the sides. Perhaps he wants to get laces on the side, or he wants to get one this time with a zip out liner. There are lots of things a person may want in a leather jacket you don’t know about. (more…)

Buying a colored leather jacket, what do you look for as far as quality goes? How do they make colored leather jackets? Are colored leather jackets dyed, or are they painted? Well let me answer some of those questions! Now then, even your standard black leather jackets are colored in a way. That blue-black color most leather jackets have is not the natural hide color.
Lots of women like pink leather jackets, maybe a white leather jacket. If your getting a leather fashion jacket red, cream, blue and other colors are popular leather jacket colors. You can even get leather jackets that have several colors to it in the form of stripes or sections of the jacket. (more…)

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been late posting. I’m working on getting more leather items in the store, just takes so much time! Anyway for today I thought I’d talk about getting an airbrushed design on your leather jacket. Actually you can get a design on anything leather. Leather saddlebags look great with designs on them. So do leather vest, leather purses, even leather chaps.
But the back of leather jackets is what most people pick to have a design made. I use to run a leather store where I airbrushed designs on leather jackets. I also airbrushed monograms on luggage, purses and briefcases. Now, I am not very artistic, so all the designs I made were done by stencils. They can make even a non artistic fool like me look great!
See the design in the picture above? That was my most popular design, the double dragon. All of it was done by stencil, then covered with a clear coat. Leather jacket designs can really personalize your jacket and make it stand out. You can make a statement with it, show your pride, or just show off a beautiful picture. (more…)

Hi everyone, sorry I have not been posting much. I’ve got a lot of writing I’ve been finishing up. Once I have it done in a day or two I’ll be doing more work in here. That includes getting more items in my store too! Well today I thought I’d make a quick post about leather shirts. Yes, they make leather shirts, in lots of different styles too.
Now normally I talk about how you want a tough cowhide or buffalo leather hide, or pigskin hide leather jacket. But for a shirt, you want something soft and flexible. Often you want it made from the split grain, unless it’s lambskin, sheepskin or maybe goat. The split grain is more softer and flexible than the top grain, which is better for a jacket.
So for a leather shirt the best type of leather is lambskin, sheepskin and goat. But the split grain of cowhide, buffalo and pigskin can also be used, however the lambskin will be the softest. Most leather shirts button up in front, but some have snap buttons, and some you put on like a sweater with just a short top zipper. Often they have breast pockets that button or snap shut. (more…)

So just what is the difference between a motorcycle jacket and a scooter or racer style leather jacket? They both cost about the same, so that’s not it! They both are made for riding a motorcycle, and they both are made to protect you from the road and elements. I already made a post describing how a motorcycle leather jacket is designed and why they are shaped the way they are.
So if you want to read that one, click here for how a motorcycle leather jacket is designed. Now the scooter or racer style leather jacket is the same. Some call them a scooter jacket, mostly in the UK. The people in the USA often call them a racer jacket. The main reason for the difference in style is the type of motorcycle being rode and the type of person that rides those bikes!
Picture a big Harley cruiser bike. Normally you think of an older rider, maybe in his forties and up, sitting straight up or slightly back and enjoying the ride wearing his big motorcycle jacket. Now think of a younger hotshot riding his Nina performance bike. He’s leaned way forward, moving his body a lot as he zips around traffic and showing off. Two very different types of riders, and two different types of bikes. (more…)

Sorry I have not been keeping up on the post, been real busy! I have not added much to my store section, but I’m working on it. One of the things I’m going to add is Ladies warm fashion leather jackets like in the picture above. Some people are confused as to if leather jackets are really warm. Leather makes a great windbreaker, which accounts for a lot of cold.
So once you combine a good liner with a good leather jacket you end up with a very warm jacket. If it’s a sheepskin shearling leather jacket it’s one of the warmest jackets you can own. But you don’t even need a liner that thick. A thinsulate zip out liner like the ones in the leather jackets in my store keep you nice and warm in cold weather.
Now, I don’t mean minus 10 degrees temperatures! For that then your best bet is a down parka or shearling coat. But for most normal cold weather of 10 degrees above and higher a leather jacket or coat with a thinsulate liner will be plenty warm. With a zip out liner that same leather jacket will be able to be worn in warmer weather too.
I will be carrying about 8 or so ladies warm fashion leather jackets. Some have faux fur liners and collars. Some have just the thinsulate liner. All are very warm and toasty, two even have hoods that are hidden when not in use. So you get a warm jacket with good leather fashion looks. Look for them in the store in about a week!

Hot damn! Well it took me a damn long time, but as you can see from the new top menu I now have my leather store open! Well, I don’t have much yet, just a few men’s and woman’s leather jackets. But at least it’s a start. I don’t have anything in the saddlebag section, that’s just got a “coming soon” greeting. I just wanted to try to fill up the menu.
Now once I get a lot more in here, those sections you see will change to “men’s leather apparel” and “woman’s leather apparel” along with sections for motorcycle gear bags, accessories and stuff like that. Then inside the men’s and woman’s sections will be more categories like ladies leather motorcycle jackets, fashion jackets, leather vest, halter tops and so on, you get the idea.
I’m telling you, putting in all the items by hand is a real pain in the ass! But I strongly believe I will get much better search engine hits with my own words in wordpress than by using a pre-made shopping cart. It will take me a month or so to slowly add all the items. There will be much more leather jackets than you see in each section right now.
So go take a peek at the leather motorcycle jackets I have now and tell me what you think. I think I have put all the information you want to know about them in the description. Instead of a generic “top grade leather” blurb, which means nothing, I tell you if it’s cowhide or buffalo, top grain, full grain or split grain, and if it’s naked leather or analine. Confused? Then click on the “leather Info” link in the blog categories to your left and find out all about how to pick out quality leather Items!
