Top quality ladies leather fringe jacket

Ladies leather fringe jacket with studs

Well Halloween is over and that means soon the holiday season buying will start! Yes I know most don’t want to think about it but it seems like each year people start their Christmas shopping earlier.

With times tough for most this year it makes more sense to buy gifts that are practical. A warm leather jacket or coat is a great gift while being something they can use instead of sticking it on a shelf!

I have a mix of both leather motorcycle jackets as well as leather fashion jackets and coats. I will be adding new ones very soon for the holidays, yes I know I’ve said that before!

Leather coats, classic apparel for warm winter use

Womens leather coat

It’s almost time once again to be taking your winter wardrobe out of storage and dusting off your sweaters, jackets, and coats. This will provide you with a great opportunity to update and expand your outerwear. If you don’t already own a couple of leather coats, consider buying one.

Leather coats have been fashionable for years, but this winter they’ll be hotter than ever! Genuine leather just makes good sense. For one thing, it’s a natural material that’s extremely durable.

When properly cared for, leather coats will last for decades. Unlike outerwear made of fabric, leather coats will maintain their shape winter after winter, so they’ll keep their inherent good looks.

Buying fall and winter leather coats & jackets for women

fall and winter leather coats and jackets for womenfall and winter leather coats and jackets for women

Now that fall is here and the weather is cooler, you might be thinking about buying your wife or girlfriend a nice leather coat or jacket. Or your a woman and wants to get one for herself. But you might be confused with all the different styles and colors there are out there. So here’s a few tips for you to get a quality women’s leather jacket or coat.

Many think that a leather jacket will not keep you very warm. That’s because of so many fake leather and junk leather coats out there today. I had a girl here in Florida that got a great looking leather jacket from a well known brand. But even here in Florida in the winter she would freeze with that on! A quality, real leather coat or jacket with a liner is very, very warm.

So first make sure it’s REAL leather. Most coats and jackets today are fake leather, leather-like, synthetic leather (which is fake leather) and so on. A real leather jacket will have a tag on it stating it’s made from real leather. A QUALITY leather jacket or coat will say what kind of leather it is, and maybe even the thickness.

Obama should have worn a leather coat

mens leather jacket

I just wanted to make a quick post today. Talking about the new president is a bit off topic, but hey, it’s a big deal so why not. Besides, it’s my site! The weather at the inaugural was a bit cold, so he had on a long coat of some type. It looked good, but I think a long leather coat or trench coat would have looked cool with him wearing it!

It would have really cut that wind that was blowing too. So Obama is our 44th president now, and the first ever black president. Actually he has a bit of a few races in him, biracial. Love him or hate him, he’s it for another 4 years. I myself like how he keeps a calm, steady demeanor about him. He does not seem to get rattled up too easy. Winter storage of your leather motorcycle jacket

winter care of leather jackets and coats

I know I made a post a while ago about caring for your leather jacket in the winter. Most people who have leather motorcycle jackets store them all winter long. I’ll just give a brief recap of how to best store your leather motorcycle jacket today, because I can’t think of anything else to say today!

Many times in the fall when you get ready to put your leather motorcycle jacket away you are too busy to really do a good job of it. You hang it up thinking “next week I’ll take it back out, clean it and really store it good”. But now it’s January and you just remembered that steam that goes into your closet from the radiator!

The best thing you can do right now is take it out and give it a good look over. Did you clean it good so dirt and crap is not stuck in the zippers, hardware and pockets? Now that you have more time in the long winter days you should get your leather motorcycle jacket out and clean it good. Wipe it down, brush it off and go over the buttons and snaps with a toothbrush to get out dirt. Continue reading Winter storage of your leather motorcycle jacket

What to do when you get a leather jacket or coat for a gift

How to care for your new leather jacket gift

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I roasted a full chicken and really pigged out, lol. Many people will get a leather jacket or coat for Christmas. Many boyfriends and husbands will get their girlfriends or wife a nice winter leather coat or jacket. Many times this is the first leather coat they ever had. So, they are not sure what to do with it.

Should they clean it? Does it need waterproofing stuff on it? Does it need sealer? Well let me tell you the basics of what to do if you get a new leather coat for Christmas, or anytime as a gift. First, you want to inspect it and be sure nothing is wrong with it so you can return it if you have to. Take a look all over the outside of the leather coat.

See if there are any rips, holes, burns, flaking or even discoloring on the leather. Next inspect all the outside stitching on the leather jacket. Is there any threads cut, pulled out, nicked or worn? Now inspect any zippers on all the pockets, vents and so on. Zip them open and closed several times. New zippers may be a little stiff.
