Getting an airbrush design on your leather jacket

getting an airbrush design on your leather jacket

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been late posting. I’m working on getting more leather items in the store, just takes so much time! Anyway for today I thought I’d talk about getting an airbrushed design on your leather jacket. Actually you can get a design on anything leather. Leather saddlebags look great with designs on them. So do leather vest, leather purses, even leather chaps.

But the back of leather jackets is what most people pick to have a design made. I use to run a leather store where I airbrushed designs on leather jackets. I also airbrushed monograms on luggage, purses and briefcases. Now, I am not very artistic, so all the designs I made were done by stencils. They can make even a non artistic fool like me look great!

See the design in the picture above? That was my most popular design, the double dragon. All of it was done by stencil, then covered with a clear coat. Leather jacket designs can really personalize your jacket and make it stand out. You can make a statement with it, show your pride, or just show off a beautiful picture. Racer or scooter leather jackets

difference between scooter or racer leather jackets and motorcycle jackets

So just what is the difference between a motorcycle jacket and a scooter or racer style leather jacket? They both cost about the same, so that’s not it! They both are made for riding a motorcycle, and they both are made to protect you from the road and elements. I already made a post describing how a motorcycle leather jacket is designed and why they are shaped the way they are.

So if you want to read that one, click here for how a motorcycle leather jacket is designed. Now the scooter or racer style leather jacket is the same. Some call them a scooter jacket, mostly in the UK. The people in the USA often call them a racer jacket. The main reason for the difference in style is the type of motorcycle being rode and the type of person that rides those bikes!

Picture a big Harley cruiser bike. Normally you think of an older rider, maybe in his forties and up, sitting straight up or slightly back and enjoying the ride wearing his big motorcycle jacket. Now think of a younger hotshot riding his Nina performance bike. He’s leaned way forward, moving his body a lot as he zips around traffic and showing off. Two very different types of riders, and two different types of bikes. Continue reading Racer or scooter leather jackets

Ladies warm leather jackets for cold weather

warm ladies leather jacketsladies leather jacket

Sorry I have not been keeping up on the post, been real busy! I have not added much to my store section, but I’m working on it. One of the things I’m going to add is Ladies warm fashion leather jackets like in the picture above. Some people are confused as to if leather jackets are really warm. Leather makes a great windbreaker, which accounts for a lot of cold.

So once you combine a good liner with a good leather jacket you end up with a very warm jacket. If it’s a sheepskin shearling leather jacket it’s one of the warmest jackets you can own. But you don’t even need a liner that thick. A thinsulate zip out liner like the ones in the leather jackets in my store keep you nice and warm in cold weather.

Now, I don’t mean minus 10 degrees temperatures! For that then your best bet is a down parka or shearling coat. But for most normal cold weather of 10 degrees above and higher a leather jacket or coat with a thinsulate liner will be plenty warm. With a zip out liner that same leather jacket will be able to be worn in warmer weather too.

I will be carrying about 8 or so ladies warm fashion leather jackets. Some have faux fur liners and collars. Some have just the thinsulate liner. All are very warm and toasty, two even have hoods that are hidden when not in use. So you get a warm jacket with good leather fashion looks. Look for them in the store in about a week!

Leather motorcycle jackets & how they are different

men\'s leather motorcycle jacket

Hi everyone, hope your week is going well. Today I wanted to explain just what the real differences are between a classic style motorcycle jacket and any other type of leather jacket. Motorcycle jackets are not made the way they are just to look cool! Yes some go overboard on the damn zipper pockets, but for the most part there is a practical reason for all the ways a motorcycle jacket is styled.

Lets start with the overall fit, something most don’t think about. A motorcycle leather jacket is made for a person sitting on a motorcycle, duh! Now think about it, have you ever had on a coat or jacket and sat down in your car? I bet anything the front of your coat bunches up like a balloon. That’s because when you sit your lap is pushing the stiff jacket up. A motorcycle leather jacket is cut short in front.

See how short it comes to that guy in the picture? It’s cut so that it ends right at your waist, where you bend. That way it does not ride up and bunch up when sitting on a Harley. Now, the back however is cut a little longer. That’s because most are leaned forward with your hands up on the motorcycle handlebars. So they cut the back longer so it does not ride up and expose your lower back when your riding. Continue reading Leather motorcycle jackets & how they are different

Leather jacket brands in my leather store

leather brands I will have in my store

Hello everyone. I’m enjoying my stay up in Vermont. It’s cooler than in Florida, that’s for sure! As you all know if you’ve been reading my post, I’m going to open a store in here. Actually I will be doing that very soon, maybe a week or two. I’m always honest about everything I do, I think you know that. So I think it’s only fair to tell you the leather brands I’ll be stocking.

Now most buy their leather from big wholesalers, then slap their own names on it. I’m not going to do that. I will just use the brand name it comes with, and let the quality do the talking. Now one thing I’m going to do is stock one brand that is very, very high quality. They cost top dollar, but they can’t be beat, no how, no way. I also will stock 2 or 3 brands that are good quality, yet not cost more than most can afford.

All will be quality leather jackets, vest, motorcycle leather and all that stuff. None will be cheap stuff, I hate cheap leather! But I wanted to have a choice of good quality leather that most want to buy, and then the super top of the line leather that people with lots of money want, or those who don’t mind paying a lot for the super quality leather. So what brands am I talking about? Continue reading Leather jacket brands in my leather store

How much should a good leather jacket cost?

womens leather coat

What’s going on everyone? Today I’m going to talk about the sticky part of just how leather jackets are sold as far as the price goes. If you’ve every gone online and visited several different sites, you may have seen what seems to be the same leather jacket. What surprises you is everyone has a different price, and some are real cheap while others are real high. How can that be?

Well let me tell you just how leather jackets get bought and sold. If your dealing with a major manufacture of brand name items, you have to become a dealer of that brand. Once your approved you are told how much you can mark up an item for, or even flat out told “this sells for X amount, so sell it at that price.

But any item that is a non brand item, like most leather jackets and leather items, anyone can buy it from a wholesaler and then sell it for whatever they want to sell it for. A Harley Davidson leather jacket is a brand name, so you have to become a dealer and then you would be told what to sell that leather jacket for. But all these motorcycle sites and leather shops that sell leather jackets buy non brand name items. So then they can sell them for whatever they want. So how much DO they mark up?
